For events especially, we recommend travelling by train and bus. From Brugg railway station, take bus lines 364 and 366 (towards Birr railway station, "Windisch, Gemeindehaus" stop) or lines 361, 362, 363 (towards Mellingen Heitersberg, "Windisch Zentrum" stop) to the Legionary Trail (Königsfelden Abbey barn / Legionary Trail visitor centre). The journey time is 2–3 minutes. You can also reach the visitor centre on foot from Brugg station. The route from the station is signposted. The walk takes about 15 minutes. To the SBB timetable Arriving by car The Vindonissa Legionary Trail can be reached via the A3 motorway (Brugg exit). From here the expressway leads to Windisch (approx. 10 minutes). Calculate route with Google Maps Parking Paid parking spaces are available at the Campus car park near Bahnhofstrasse. From there it is about 10 minutes to the Vindonissa Legionary Trail. There are no official parking spaces for people with reduced mobility on the Legionary Trail site. People with reduced mobility can park on the premises of Königsfelden Psychiatric Services. From there it is a 4-minute walk to the Legionary Trail visitor centre (Königsfelden Abbey barn). The path is level. Coach parking Two coach parking spaces are available on the premises of Königsfelden Psychiatric Services (at the Villa Rägebogen day-care centre). They are located directly adjacent to the Legionary Trail (visitor centre / Abbey barn). Egliswil Collection Centre

The Collection

The Museum Aargau Collection has been assembled from various holdings since 1830. It consists of bequests from Aargau's castles and monasteries, numerous donations, objects acquired from company archives and targeted purchases. The Collection is constantly being expanded and documents Aargau's history in tangible form through objects that can be experienced. Collecting, preserving, researching Collecting, preserving and researching objects are among the core tasks of a museum. A collection strategy defines the criteria according to which objects are collected. When an object is added to the Collection, it is inventoried, documented and preserved for storage by experts. If necessary, it is restored. The objects thus form the basis for research and for exhibitions that use originals to make the past come alive. The items on show in the permanent and special exhibitions of Museum Aargau (including the castles) and other cultural institutions are a mere fraction of what is stored in the Egliswil Collection Centre. Numerous objects are waiting to be exhibited and shown off to the public in the coming years.

Getting here Arriving by car For those arriving by car, disabled parking spaces are available on the premises of Königsfelden Psychiatric Services. These are only a few hundred metres away from the Legionary Trail visitor centre (Königsfelden Abbey barn) (level path). Getting here Arriving by bus and train Bus lines 361, 362 and 363 run from Brugg railway station to the "Windisch Löwen" or "Windisch Zentrum" stops. The Legionary Trail visitor centre (Königsfelden Abbey barn) is 9 minutes' walk from the bus stop. This route involves crossing some roads. The terrain is flat. Getting here Tours to the Roman sites General notice The Roman sites are mostly suitable for people with reduced mobility. Roman sites of Vindonissa Tours to the Roman sites Roman sites Wheelchair users: The exhibition area includes several buildings and various outdoor facilities. The various stops are all wheelchair accessible (except section 3, Cloaca Maxima). The paths between them are mostly made of gravel or cobblestone and are directly or indirectly passable by wheelchair.
